Issue description: starting from 18 April 2024, there was a significant raise in CPU consumption by the Symantec Endpoint Encryption service when restarting PDA related services and they would also not start properly.
This was tracked down to a behavior caused by the latest virus definitions pushed by Broadcom (mother company of Symantec).
BCI and C/CYP are working on this issue mutually. There is a known workaround for the time being:
As a first measure, a rollout for Symantec Agent was already carried out at the weekend to exclude the D:\OPCON folder from the analysis. You are then able to manually start these services.
This action has still not helped on some servers:
Temporary workaround to start the services:
Open Symantec Endpoint Protection: Exclude complete folders C and D (destination of your MES installation), start of all Opcon Services, remove Exclude then immediately! (to avoid security issues!)
A final fix is currently being worked on by Broadcom and then being pushed to Symantec. This will then make any workaround obsolote. This post will be updated
